Autism a Hands on Approach Conference – 26th November 2013 ,Stepping Hill Hospital, UK

The 10th annual conference organised by parents and professionals in partnership. Over the years we have achieved a high profile in the North West, having attracted many world renowned speakers in the field of Autism. The conference aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the condition with opportunity to explore more specific issues through   workshops.  This year is no exception - we are delighted to welcome a remarkable line up of speakers including Professor Gillian Baird, Professor  Francesca Happe, Lynne Moxon , Philip Whitaker and our chair Charlotte Moore among others.     

 

Some of the topics the conference will tackle include a review of the new NICE guidelines; how we can identify strengths and attributes in individuals with autism and match them to suitable working environments; dealing with Challenging Behaviour; Sex and sexuality ; adult services and adult social care; and personalisation. Children in Crisis Conference- A National Hui

New Zealand: The Centre for Global Studies in Education at University of Waikato, Te Whare Wânanga o Waikato, Hamilton, is hosting this important national hui in response to recent reports and research on children and young people in crisis in Aotearoa/ New Zealand.

 

This 3-day conference provides an opportunity for all interested groups (e.g. practitioners, teachers, counsellors, social workers, academics, police, paediatricians and agencies) to discuss these vital issues and seek evidence-based solutions for better services for children and young people. This will include:

 

  • discussing government policies and initiatives
  • promoting an on-going forum
  • developing a Handbook for Teachers
  • producing other relevant publications
