The TAC Model

The TAC model

TAC provides creative, imaginative and resourceful multiagency support

The Team Around the Child (TAC) model of care was designed at the beginning of the millennium to be the heart of a locality's early childhood intervention (ECI) system or early support system.

TAC is described as the multi-agency effort to provide each child and family with seamless and non-fragmented support. Its original focus was on infants who, perhaps because of neurological impairment, have a multifaceted condition and on-going multiple special needs.

The TAC model had a strong appeal for parents and practitioners because it is straightforward and easy to understand and has spread into very many parts of the UK and into several other countries.

“There have been some major steps forward in recent years particularly around key working and early support. Peter Limbrick’s early work on Team Around the Child approaches transformed how we thought about services and enabled the move from services which met the needs of professionals to services which put parents and children at the centre. The government’s Early Support Programme has subsequently promoted and developed this. So are we getting better…without doubt, but whatever service model we use, this book reminds us that the most powerful intervention is always created by the relationships we have with individual parents and children. The absolute humanity that underpins everything we do.”

Christine Lenehan, Director, Council for Disabled Children

About Us

Interconnections

Interconnections was established in 1995 in the UK by Peter Limbrick to support families,  practitioners and managers in their care for babies and young children who have significant challenges to their development and learning.

Limbrick

The central theme of Interconnections has been teamwork in which interventions are integrated to cater for the whole child and family.

Some years ago Peter developed the internationally recognised Team Around the Child (TAC) approach as a main component of effective integrated early child and family support.

Interconnections ceased trading in March 2025 but continues as an information service.
