Free Planning for the Future Seminars in May – Mencap – UK and N. Ireland

Mencap's Planning for the Future events are free seminars delivered around England, Wales and Northern Ireland throughout the year. These free two-hour seminars provide information on how families and carers can ensure that someone with a learning disability is taken care of when they are no longer around, by making a suitable will or setting up a trust.

At the seminars a local legal professional, with experience of drafting wills and trusts for the benefit of people with a learning disability, offers vital, specialist legal advice and gives families and carers a much needed opportunity to get answers to those difficult questions that often make the process seem so daunting. Mencap's Wills and Trusts team also provides attendees with free booklets about writing wills and setting up trusts for the benefit of a loved one with a learning disability.

Early Years Developmental Journal (England and Wales, UK)

Early Years Developmental Journal is designed for families, practitioners and others to use as a way of recording, celebrating and supporting children's progress. It is also for people who would like to find out more about children's development in the early years. It supports key working by helping everyone involved with a child to share what they know and discuss how best to work together to support development and learning. This Journal is particularly useful if you know or suspect that your child or a child who you are helping is unlikely to progress in the same way or at the same rate as other children - whether or not a particular factor or learning difficulty has been identified and given a name.
