Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have the solutions to health inequality in their grasp - Report
Launch of the Lowitja Institute Report. They say:
The 12th annual Close the Gap report —Leadership and Legacy Through Crises: Keeping our Mob safe— written by the Lowitja Institute and released by the Close the Gap Campaign, received a strong reception on its release to the public on March 18.
The report launched with an online webinar to almost 2400 attendees, where strong leaders joined the panel, calling to Australian Governments that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have the solutions to health inequality in their grasp.
The report showcases our success stories through 2020, what governments need to do to enable our people to lead, and what gets in the way and what stops us from Closing the Gap. The Close the Gap Campaign takes a strengths-based approach to research, policy and practice.
"My overall message to all Australians (as we happily launch this report to you) is that - governments are not the solution, we are the solution to governments. I urge policymakers across the country to read this report and to hear our wake up calls" - Janine Mohamed, CEO, Lowitja Institute.
