An afternoon seminar to introduce the themes in ‘Early Childhood Intervention without Tears: Improved support for infants with disabilities and their families’ (2017) and aims to build bridges between the worlds of infant disability and infant/family mental health.
The discussions will be relevant to paediatricians, psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, family support and portage workers, mental health workers, specialist teachers, paediatric and psychiatric nurses, social workers and family members.
The focus will be on babies and pre-school children who have a multifaceted condition or illness or uncertain/short life expectancy or a combination of them.
Discussions can include: infant-parent attachment, quality of life for infant and family, reducing stress and fatigue, helping the family achieve a new normal family life, preserving everyone’s energy and money in times of austerity, presenting multiple interventions as a coherent whole.
Costs: Professionals: £30. Parents: £10. Professional and parent coming together: £35. Professional are encouraged, if they can, to come with a parent who uses their service.
Each person attending the seminar will receive a complimentary copy of ‘Early Childhood Intervention without Tears’ before the day.
