Unlocking the Potential of Short Breaks - the 10th ISBA International Conference, Edinburgh, UK, September 2016

isba2ISBA exists to create opportunities to share knowledge and experience of short break provision across international and cultural boundaries.   ISBA’s purpose is to support developments in policy and practice which improve the experience of short breaks for everyone.   Underpinning this is a shared belief that short breaks play a vital role in promoting health and well-being, and in strengthening carers and families.

The aims of the 10th ISBA conference are:

  • To inspire – by sharing experiences of short breaks and their impact from around the world
  • To explore – in particular the opportunities for developing flexible, personalised short breaks
  • To challenge – by reflecting on attitudes towards risk and how we balance this with delivering more choice and control
  • To strengthen international friendships – through learning together, and by developing our shared vision for short breaks
