Free Learning Disability Awareness Training in Liverpool and Knowsley – UK
The LEAF Project, a partnership project between Mencap Liverpool and Alternative Futures Group, is offering FREE Learning Disability Awareness Training to organisations within Liverpool and Knowsley. The training is split into a core Learning Disability Awareness presentation and optional additional modules.
The core training, What About ME, is a two hour presentation with interactive activities, videos and discussions to ensure you learn as much as you can about learning disability in theory and in practice.
The training is designed for anyone within an organisation that already works with, or is looking to begin working with, people with a learning disability to help them better understand the causes, related conditions and how to best support individuals.
The training covers;
- What a learning disability is and importantly, what it is not
- Associated diagnoses
- Characteristics of a learning disability
- Facts about what is like to live with a learning disability
- Autism and Asperger's
- How to offer support to people with a learning disability
- Communication tips and tools
- Basic introduction to safeguarding and handling disclosures
