What? Why? Children in Hospital Conference - Preparing Families for Hospital and Improving Health Literacy, May 2016, Edinburgh, UK

hospi80The conference on Monday 9th May will offer opportunities to discuss how to support anxious children and deal with parental anxiety. Special focus will be on supporting children with a learning disability.

 

Presentations include:

‘Improving communication to provide person centred care to families.’

Dr Kate McKay, Senior Medical Officer, the Scottish Government

‘Using and promoting psychological strategies to support children and parents who are anxious about hospital.’

Dr Janie Donnan, Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

‘Supporting children with a learning disability in hospital.’

Blair Thomson, Learning Disability Liaison Nurse, NHS Lothian
