New Video - Ready4Routines: Building the Skills for Mindful Parenting
From the Center on the Developing Child: Lack of daily routines can make it hard for children to develop executive function skills.
These skills—learning how to filter distractions, prioritize tasks, set and achieve goals, and control impulses—are crucial for getting along with others and doing well in school.
Later in life, executive function skills are essential for adults in their roles as parent, employee, friend, and citizen.
By practicing mindfulness and focusing on daily events such as bedtime and mealtime, the Ready4Routines project strengthens executive function skills in parents and children and supports families as they work to build predictable routines.
