Education Health and Care Plans Training Seminar in London, UK, June 2015 - £5 for parents
This seminar runs from 10 am to 2 pm on June 29th and is for parents, carers and professionals. It is about Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) which are replacing Statements of Special Educational Need.
Every child or young person with a Statement will be reassessed and a new plan written. Seminar discussions will cover:
- Who is entitled to an EHCP, and how do you go about obtaining one? What rights do you have to appeal decisions?
- What content should be in an EHCP? What is an 'outcome' and how should it be described? How do you provide the evidence necessary to support the writing of a plan?
- How do you ensure the voices of students with all levels of need are heard and evidenced in the process?
- Mediation, Independent Supporters, advocacy, and other sources of help and support Come and hear lawyers and education specialists answer these questions and more, talk you through the process and give you exciting ideas.
The Speakers
Nancy Collins, Irwin Mitchell Solicitors will take you through the new law as it applies to children and young people with SEN and disabilities
Andy Lusk, Education Consultant will present on: What's the point of an Education, Health and Care Plan?' - Thinking long term about education and training in special educational needs and disability; what are the 'must haves' in a plan.'- Andy will talk about the purposes of a plan that can extend to the age of 25, the necessity to integrate health and social care elements into a successful plan, and what to require of an education or training provider in the light of the long term objectives in a plan .
Belinda Blank, Ambitious about Autism will talk about how to define the outcomes you want for your child or young person, and how the plan can be a part of the picture that makes the outcomes happen.
Vicki Joel, Independent Supporter will talk about the role of Independent Supporters and how they can support parents and carers through the assessment and transition process.
