kContact intervention offers support for birth parents of children in care - Report

--  kContact keeping contact between parents in children in care  --

The kContact project team recently published a paper in the international journal Child Abuse & Neglect.

kContact is the largest trial to date testing the effectiveness of a contact intervention in the out-of-home care context.

The kContact intervention involved key workers working with birth parents before and after each contact visit to provide them with support. This approach helped parents clarify their concerns and expectations about contact, and provided practical and emotional support for the next visit with their child. Read more details of the trial methods and findings in the paper cited above.

We congratulate Associate Professor Stephanie Taplin, Emeritus Professor Morag McArthur, Dr Aino Suomi and Nina Lucas from the Institute, for their contributions to this significant research.
