National Reconciliation Week
From Lowitja Institute:
On the eve of National Reconciliation Week 2021, Lowitja Institute CEO Dr Janine Mohamed said Reconciliation Australia based its vision of reconciliation on five pillars: historical acceptance, race relations, equality and equity, institutional integrity and unity.
“At the heart of historical acceptance is truth telling and the cornerstone of that for Australia is the Uluru Statement from the Heart, a gift to us all,” she said.
Like so many Indigenous and non-Indigenous organisations, the Lowitja Institute urges Australian governments to commit this National Reconciliation Week to fully implementing the Uluru Statement and to take Australia forward on an historic road.
“It is important to recognise that reconciliation is a journey, not a destination,” Dr Mohamed said.
