You’re invited to the 10th BASPCAN Congress, with Sir Ernest Ryder, Siobhan Beckwith, and Anne Fine.
BASPCAN is the leading multi-disciplinary association for UK and Ireland professionals and volunteers who work to protect children from abuse and neglect and support families at times of crisis and need.
Congress brings together child protection researchers, experts by experience, and practitioners in social work, medicine, psychology, nursing, education, criminal justice and law, in the academic, statutory, voluntary and community sectors– from across the UK and internationally.
As well as keynote talks on The role of the justice system in the safeguarding of children by Sir Ernest Ryder, using complexity theory to help in child protection decision-making by Irene Stevens, and how fiction can help children understand their experiences by Anne Fine, the programme this year also includes symposia on Involving children and young people in research on sensitive issues; mental health outcomes for maltreated children in and out of care; and Fathering and Domestic Violence: perspectives from children, women and men.as well as opportunities to network with leading international researchers and professionals.
