“Let’s shake it up. Human rights for everyone!” ASID Conference invites abstracts

australiaThe 52nd Australasian Society for Intellectual Disability (ASID) Conference will be held on the Gold Coast (Australia) at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from Wednesday, 14 November to Friday 16 November, 2018.

 

The Conference theme is “Let’s shake it up. Human rights for everyone!”


Key strands for discussion, as identified by a group of self-advocates, include:

  • The lived experience of people with intellectual disability
  • Human rights for people with intellectual disability
  • Ending violence, abuse and bullying for people with intellectual disability
  • Independent living and people with intellectual disability
  • Dual disability and the lived experience of mental illness for people with intellectual disability
  • The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and people with intellectual disability

The conference aims to present an inclusive and exciting program with many opportunities for discussion and debate. ASID’s focus is research to practice – the dialogue between researchers, practitioners, service providers, governments, families and people with intellectual disability which has the goal of finding better ways to support inclusion for individuals and to change systems.
